What types of stage lighting glass components can we produce?

BO-GLASS manufactures precision glass optics for stage lighting, including convex, Fresnel, step, and TIR lenses. Our chemically strengthened glass exceeds EU standards, withstanding 2J+ impact and 120°C thermal shock. We support your projects from prototyping to mass production.

Primary Optical Components

Convex Lenses: For basic focusing and beam shaping.

Fresnel Lenses: Create a soft-edged, adjustable spot-to-flood beam. Known for their stepped design that reduces weight and heat retention.

Step Lenses: A more efficient version of the Fresnel, often used in ellipsoidal spotlights.

TIR (Total Internal Reflection) Lenses / Collimators: Typically made of optical glass , these are highly efficient for collecting and collimating LED light into a controlled beam. Often used in LED pars, spots, and moving heads.

Dichroic Reflectors: Cold-mirror reflectors that allow infrared heat to pass through while reflecting visible light, reducing heat on the stage and object.

Aluminized Glass Reflectors: Provide a highly reflective and durable surface for shaping and projecting light from the source.

Protective & Filter Components

Protective Cover Glass / Flat Windows: A flat piece of heat-resistant glass placed at the front of a fixture to protect the internal optics from dust, smoke, and physical damage.

Dichroic Color Filters: Thin-film coated glass that transmits specific wavelengths (colors) of light while reflecting others, used for creating vibrant, fade-resistant colors without gels.

UV Filter Glass: Blocks ultraviolet radiation, which can be harmful to both eyes and materials.

Heat Shield Glass (Infrared Filter): Placed between the lamp and other components to protect them from extreme radiant heat.

FAQ: Custom Glass Optics for Stage Lighting

What types of glass components can you manufacture for stage lighting fixtures?
We specialize in a full range of precision glass optics, including:

Lenses: Convex, Fresnel, Step, and TIR (Total Internal Reflection) Lenses.

Reflectors: Dichroic (Cold-Mirror), Aluminized, and Ellipsoidal Reflectors.

Protective & Filter Components: Cover Glass, Dichroic Color Filters, UV Filters, and Heat Shield Glass.

Why is chemical strengthening important for stage lighting glass?
Stage lighting fixtures generate intense heat and are subject to physical stress during transport and rigging. Our chemical strengthening process creates a much more durable component that can withstand significant thermal shock (e.g., >120°C) and mechanical impact (e.g., >2J), drastically reducing breakage and ensuring show-ready reliability.
What are the benefits of using your TIR lenses and dichroic reflectors?
TIR Lenses: Offer superior light collimation and efficiency for LEDs, resulting in a brighter, more controlled beam with minimal spill light—perfect for moving heads and beam lights.

Dichroic Reflectors & Filters: Provide vibrant, consistent, and fade-resistant colors without gels. The “cold-mirror” effect also passes IR heat away from the stage, protecting both the fixture internals and the performers.

Can you create custom glass optics based on our design specifications?
Absolutely. We specialize in custom optical solutions. Provide us with your requirements for focal length, beam angle, size, coating, or thermal performance, and our engineering team will develop a prototype tailored to your fixture’s unique needs.
What is your typical lead time for prototypes and mass production?
We prioritize rapid prototyping to accelerate your development cycle. Prototype lead times are typically 3-4 weeks, depending on complexity. For mass production, we maintain a stable supply chain to ensure consistent lead times of 6-8 weeks, with flexibil
