Glass Edge Grinding & Polishing Services

Regardless of the manufacturing process used, high-quality surface treatment services can enhance the aesthetics and functionality of a part. Providing high-quality glass surface treatment services will enable you to turn your dream prototype or part into reality.

Why do we need to grind the glass?

Glass edges aren’t just about looks—they keep you safe and make glass last longer. Rough edges can cut you or weaken the glass, causing cracks. At BO-GLASS, we fix that.Using high-tech machines, we shape glass edges to be perfectly smooth, angled, rounded, or flat—whatever your project needs. No sharp corners. No weak spots. Just edges that look clean, stay strong, and fit seamlessly into cars, buildings, medical gear, or anything else.
Why does it matter?
Safety first: No cuts from sharp edges.
Built to last: Proper edges prevent cracks.
Looks sharp: Polished edges upgrade your design.

Glass Edging

As the core link of glass engineering, edge processing directly determines the product’s safety performance, structural life, and design expression, BO-GLASS uses micro-crack control technology (depth ≤ 10μm) and dynamic stress relief system, combined with 9-axis linkage CNC edge grinding center (±0.05mm positioning accuracy) and diamond nano-coated grinding wheel (#120-#5000 optional grit) to provide customers with full-scenario edge solutions: 12-level finishing processes from medical-grade antibacterial matte (Ra 0.4μm) to optical mirror (Ra 0.05μm), covering complex configurations such as multi-level bevel chamfers (angle tolerance ±0.2°), seamless bullnose edges (R value = substrate thickness ±0.1mm), etc. Relying on the closed-loop water-cooled temperature control system (processing temperature ≤ 35°C) and ISO 9001 certified quality control system, we provide edge engineering services with a 300% increase in impact strength for building curtain walls, car sunroofs, touch screens, optical instruments, and other fields. We also output 3D scanning integrity reports and stress distribution cloud maps simultaneously to ensure accurate delivery of the entire cycle from prototype to mass production.

Frequently Asked Questions: Glass Edge Processing

Why is edge processing necessary for cut glass?
Processed edges remove sharp, dangerous micro-cracks and chips created during cutting. This makes the glass safe to handle, improves its structural integrity, and provides a clean, finished appearance.
What is the difference between Arrised (Seamed) and Polished edges?
Arrised/Seamed Edge: This is a basic, cost-effective finish. The sharp edges are lightly ground to create a small, smooth bevel (or chamfer), making the glass safe to handle. The edge itself remains semi-transparent and frosted.

Polished Edge: This is a high-end, optical finish. The edge is ground and then polished to a smooth, transparent, and glossy finish. It enhances aesthetics, is easier to clean, and offers the highest level of safety and precision.

What does a "Bevelled Edge" mean?
A bevelled edge is a wide, angled cut, typically on thicker glass. It is both decorative and functional, creating a refined look while also providing a safe, sloping edge.
What level of precision can you hold on edge dimensions?
For standard processing, we can typically hold a tolerance of ±0.1mm. For high-precision applications, tighter tolerances can be achieved. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
Can any type of glass undergo edge polishing?
While most common glass types (like Float, Borosilicate, and Tempered glass before tempering) can be polished, the final result depends on the glass’s hardness and composition. We will advise on the best finish for your chosen material.
What information do you need to provide for a quote?
To ensure an accurate quote, please provide:

Material Type: (e.g., Soda-Lime, Borosilicate, Ultra-clear Glass)

Glass Thickness:

Dimensional Drawings: With critical dimensions and tolerances.

Edge Finish Specification: (e.g., Seamed, Polished, 45° Chamfer, etc.)
