What is a Fused silica dome

A fused quartz optical dome is an optical dome made of fused quartz material. Fused quartz, also known as quartz glass, is a glass substrate with a very high silicon dioxide content. It has a low thermal expansion coefficient and a high melting temperature. The absorption in the entire visible light spectrum is very small and almost unchanged. It belongs to uniform absorption. However, in the infrared spectrum region of 3.5-0.5um, the absorption of quartz is strong and changes dramatically with the change of wavelength. Because fused quartz has good corrosion resistance and impact resistance, the compressive strength is about 1150N/mm2. The bending strength is about 67N/mm2, which is suitable for most optical domes.

Manipulator

Cylindrical lenses are usually used to converge or diverge light on a single axis and are mainly used to correct astigmatism and laser beam shape correction.

A spherical lens has a flat surface and a curved surface. All the passing light rays are gathered at a point, and the position and shape of the light rays will not change even if they are rotated at different angles. The cylindrical lens gathers the transmitted light into a line. If we rotate it at a specific angle, the angle of the converged light will also change.

Compared with ordinary cylindrical lenses, achromatic cylindrical lenses not only have the function of reducing spherical aberration but also gain new skills – reducing the occurrence of chromatic aberration, which lays the foundation for its application in some more sophisticated optical systems. foundation.
